Gender Analysis of Labor Contribution Among Maize Farming Household in Agricultural Zone C of Kogi State, Nigeria

This study analysed the gender labour contribution among maize farming households in Agricultural Zone C of Kogi State, Nigeria. A multi-stage sampling technique was used to select 160 from which males and females were interviewed. Data collected using descriptive statistics. The mean age male respondents 40 years while that female 33 years. Average income farmers ₦147,321.9 ₦143,475.0. average household size 8 persons. Male more dominant tertiary education than respondents. result on contributions reveals Men dominated all production activities except planting/sowing where women provided 72.1% labour. In extreme instances such as harvesting men 100% needed. Land preparation had 66.5% offered only 33.5%. tilling 78.8% 21.2%. making ridges 71.3% against 28.7%. planting/sowing, activity dominance in, seen have 27.9% provided. Furthermore, 70.7% for weeding came folks 29.3% 89.9% fertilizer application 10.1% by Pesticide 73.8% 26.2% contribution.
